We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join the Global Structured Syndicate (GSS), a part of HSBC Leveraged and Acquisition Finance (LAF) Syndicate team in India.

The new Vice President would join the Mumbai-based LAF team to support development of GSS distribution capabilities for Infrastructure Finance (IF) products leveraging on HSBC investors’ network globally with particular focus in India.

Principal Responsibilities

  • With support of GSS/ LAF senior bankers, lead deal syndication/distribution across all HIF product lines and sectors with a primary focus on Project and Infrastructure Finance for India;
  • Support and take initiatives along HIF origination colleagues to identify, structure and underwrite investment and lending opportunities in India;
  • Perform relative value, pricing and in-depth liquidity analysis and formulate GSS syndication strategy on individual assets to support deal pitching, structuring and internal approval process;
  • Support execution by producing marketing materials and analysis, managing due diligence questions and data rooms, maintaining investor trackers/call reports, and contributing to legal documentation review;
  • Manage end-to-end syndication and placement of INR, foreign currency and ECB facilities to domestic institutions, foreign bank branches, DFIs, and GIFT City branches;
  • Execute loan syndication, bookrunning processes and physical loan sales, including active participation in preparation of sale documentation and ensuring timely settlement of trades;
  • Develop India-specific distribution approaches by sector, jurisdiction and asset type, leveraging HSBC’s distribution toolkit;
  • Maintain relationships with co-investors and syndication partners and further develop the targeted investor base for HIF assets in India and offshore;
  • Work closely with various HSBC distribution teams (loan syndicate, portfolio management, sales) to broaden targeted investor coverage for HIF assets in India (including domestic lenders, offshore branches and GIFT City participants).

Role requirements / Educational Qualifications / Certification / Experience:

  • At least 8-10 years of relevant work experience in India across syndicated loans, credit capital markets or private credit, ideally with a focus on infrastructure sector loans;
  • Minimum Graduation required.
  • Demonstrated track record in pricing transactions, managing end-to-end loan syndication and executing lending transactions;
  • Strong product knowledge and execution expertise in infrastructure project finance particularly in renewables & transition and digital and transportation infrastructure; infrastructure debt advisory and capital structure investing experience is advantageous;
  • Established investor network in India and offshore;
  • Solid understanding of onshore lending and ECB regulatory frameworks;
  • Strong understanding of financial, credit, key macro-economic data analysis, valuation, market research in the context of investment decisions and individual deal structuring;
  • Solid level of understanding of lending documentation with a focus on project finance;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills;
  • Team-oriented, resilient and able to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Business proficiency in English (written and spoken) and Hindi (spoken);
  • High personal and professional ethics standards;
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office.
