About the role

Pontoon Instinct is Pontoon’s global advisory and consulting practice, helping clients transform how work gets done through data-led workforce strategy, operating model redesign, and technology modernization.

The Advisory & Engagement Director is the senior leader accountable for client relationships, engagement outcomes, and commercial success across Instinct’s advisory portfolio. This role leads complex, outcome‑based consulting engagements spanning contingent workforce strategy, external labor optimization, talent intelligence, and digital enablement.

What you’ll be doing

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Client Leadership & Strategic Partnership

  • Serve as the senior client executive responsible for all Instinct advisory engagements.
  • Build trusted advisor relationships with CHROs, CPOs, CIOs, CFOs, and senior HR/Procurement leaders.
  • Diagnose workforce challenges and translate them into strategic recommendations supported by data, benchmarks, and technology insights.
  • Guide client decision‑making and ensure alignment across executive stakeholders.

Engagement Delivery & Outcome Ownership

  • Lead the end‑to‑end delivery of Instinct consulting engagements, ensuring scope, milestones, risks, and financials are tightly managed.
  • Direct cross‑functional teams across workforce strategy, talent intelligence, operating model design, analytics, digital platforms, and change management.
  • Ensure deliverables reflect Pontoon Instinct’s methodologies, quality standards, and advisory frameworks.
  • Own engagement outcomes—ensuring defined success metrics are achieved and value is realized.

Commercial & Financial Leadership

  • Own overall engagement economics, including pricing, margin, utilization, change management, and forecasting.
  • Shape statements of work, success measures, and outcome-based pricing structures.
  • Manage scope changes while protecting profitability and client value.
  • Support portfolio planning, revenue tracking, and pipeline development within the Instinct practice.

Sales Enablement & Client Growth

  • Partner with Pontoon sales, Global Client Delivery, account teams and Instinct Practice Directors/Leads to uncover advisory-led transformation opportunities.
  • Participate in pre‑sales efforts including discovery, solutioning, workshops, and proposal development.
  • Expand advisory work into broader Pontoon services.

Value Realization & Measurement

  • Define quantitative and qualitative success metrics.
  • Track and communicate the impact of advisory work.
  • Ensure accountability for delivering expected value.

Internal Collaboration & Practice Development

  • Act as the bridge between Pontoon Instinct, sales and client service delivery.
  • Collaborate with Practice Directors/Lead on the evolution of Instinct frameworks, offerings, and methodologies.
  • Mentor consultants and support capability building.
  • Support development of reusable IP and advisory assets.

About you

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of consulting, advisory, MSP, RPO, workforce solutions, or transformation leadership experience.
  • Proven track record leading complex, multi-workstream consulting engagements.
  • Deep understanding of contingent workforce ecosystems and technology platforms.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive transformation outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a consulting firm, MSP provider, or workforce transformation environment.
  • Familiarity with VMS platforms, talent marketplaces, HR tech, and workforce analytics.
  • Background in workforce strategy, operating model design, procurement transformation, or HR modernization.
  • Experience partnering across HR, Procurement, IT, and Finance.
