Tetūranga – The role

Join the Deposit Takingand Insurance Supervisionteam within the Financial Stability Group, the team responsible for safeguarding New Zealand’s financial system. As an Advisor, you will draw on your subject matter and technicalexpertiseto deliver projects, initiatives and workstreams within the Group. The role also involves managing specificlicensed insurers, guiding high-quality analysis, mentoring junior colleagues, and contributing thought leadership within your areas of expertise.Thisparticular vacancyis within Insurance Supervision at this time, although this can change in the future.

In this role you will:

  • Deliver complex prudential supervision across acouple oflarge entities, a portfolio of smaller entities, or a major project.

  • Lead qualitative and quantitative analysis to assess risk profiles and develop effective supervisory strategies.

  • Engage with regulated entities at senior management, executive and board level.

  • Provide technical oversight and coaching to Senior Analysts and Analysts supporting the supervision portfolio.

  • Support the Manager with team workflow,oversightand delivery of supervisory priorities.

  • Contribute to the delivery of Bank-wide strategies and initiatives, working with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Apply sound judgement to resolve complex issues and build trust with management and key stakeholders.

  • Conduct high-quality research and analysis using a range of data and analytical techniques, clearly communicating insights through written and verbal outputs.

  • Provide subject matterexpertiseand technical advice across the Bank to support decision-making and prudential policy development.

  • Build strong relationships across the Bank, the public sector, other centralbanksand relevant organisations to strengthen insights and collaboration.

Ō pūkenga – About you

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • Around 7+ years’ relevant experience in banking, insurance, financial markets, economics, accounting, law, or a regulatory/central banking environment, supported by a relevant tertiary qualification.

  • Understanding of the New Zealand financial system, prudential regulation, and economic–financial system interactions, or a strong interest in developing this knowledge, along with awareness of global and domestic economic issues.

  • Experience leading analytical, policy, statistical or financial initiatives and workstreams, with the ability toidentifypolicy-relevant issues.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Sound judgement and the ability to think holistically across complex issues in a dynamic team environment.

  • Understanding ofTeTiriti o Waitangi and eligibility to obtain andmaintainthe required NZ National Security Clearance.

The anticipated appointment range for this role is $ 155,629 to $ 168,598 (actual salary will be dependent on your skills and experience).
