Job Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Health, Safety and Training Advisor at our Narrabri Coal Operations conveniently located a short 60 minute drive from Gunnedah. Gunnedah is a great regional town with abundant walking trails, fishing, water sports, and various cafes and restaurants. The region is rich in history with museums and Australian wildlife.

About The Role

Reporting to the Superintendent – Training, you will support the Narrabri Coal Operations with promoting a positive health, safety and training culture by providing support, advice, coaching, and assisting in developing and coordinating the implementation of Whitehaven Coals Health, Safety and Training strategies.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist in the development, review and implementation of internal health, safety and training strategies, plans and policies
  • Primarily perform your duties with the Underground Workforce across the different operational areas
  • Conduct Underground Induction process

Facilitate and/or participate in incident investigations, risk assessments and management of change processes

  • Monitor the effective implementation of it Safety Management System
  • Support and participate in site WHS Committee meetings, pre-start and toolbox meetings
  • Monitor compliance and provide on-going support to Operations, Contractors and Corporate Teams.

What You’ll Bring

  • Have experience as an Appointed and suitably Qualified Trainer Assessor in an Australian Underground Coal Mine
  • Knowledge of NSW WH&S Legislation and statutory requirements
  • Experience with Onsite & SharePoint or similar systems
  • Genuine passion to live by the Whitehaven STRIVE Values and contribute to a collaborative organisational culture.
  • Experience in the Mining industry
