About the role

Hancock Iron Ore has an exciting opportunity for an Advisor Career Programs to join the People and Culture team at our state-of-the-art head offices in West Perth.

In this varied and impactful role, you’ll support trainees and apprentices from across our business to develop the skills and competencies they need to succeed in their chosen pathway. A trusted advisor, you’ll help Hancock Iron Ore leaders to identify future skills requirements, effectively manage and develop their trainees and apprentices, and ensure that any development needs are managed appropriately.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting the delivery and continuous improvement of apprentice and trainee programs.
  • Delivering structured onboarding and induction programs, ensuring that program participants are set up for success.
  • Coordinating rotations and training activities, ensuring that apprentices and trainees complete and log all requirements.
  • Partnering with leaders, participants, supervisors, education providers and industry partners.
  • Monitoring program performance and compliance, and delivery accurate reporting.
  • Contributing to the development of HIO’s talent strategy and program experience.

About you

A strong communicator, you quickly build trust and confidence with your stakeholders and enjoy delivering engaging onboarding, induction, coaching and development sessions. You are motivated by providing exceptional learning experiences and can create actionable plans that support people to embark on a new career with confidence and develop the skills they need to be successful.

You have exceptional organisational skills and a key eye for continuous improvement and will be excited by the many opportunities on offer at Hancock Iron Ore to adopt AI and drive efficiency and productivity across our programs.

To be successful in this role, ideally you will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Human Resources and/or Training and Assessment.
  • Proven experience in Organisational Development, Training, Learning & Development or Talent Management.
  • Capability in training content development and learning management systems.
  • Exposure to competency frameworks, career pathways and workforce development initiatives.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.

Previous experience in supporting apprentices and trainees that fly-in-fly-out to work sites and/or live and work in regional locations will also be highly regarded.
