Job Description

The Advertising team oversees all advertising for Con Edison and our subsidiary, Orange & Rockland. Our team is responsible for 30+ campaign launches every year. We support not only our largest corporate efforts, but also customer and gas ops, energy efficiency initiatives, and the adoption of EVs.

We are looking for someone to join the team as a Advertising Manager. This unique role will work cross-functionally to assist with creating targeted advertising campaigns that will educate and engage customers about Con Edisons initiatives and programs. You will also be a critical stakeholder in the development of tactical media campaigns including media strategy, execution, reporting and campaign optimization. You will also work across the entire marketing and communications team, engaging colleagues focused on social media, media relations, regional community affairs, advocacy and other disciplines to ensure our advertising campaigns support our broader communications strategies and tactics.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage campaign launches from initial briefing, to strategy, from concepting to production, and from media planning to execution, and reporting.
  • Manage a Sr Specialist with a focus on production reporting to them.
  • Provide both mentoring and career growth to direct report.
  • Share knowledge and experience with direct report and across Marketing/Corporate Affairs departments.
  • Write and review briefs at start of each campaign/project.
  • Recognize and embrace the value of an Integrated Advertising Team and encourage full participation in that process with the goal of fully integrated strategic work.
  • Serve as an essential point of contact for the agencies.
  • Lead the media strategy, planning, execution, and optimization of paid media spend for cross-channel efforts including Video, Social, Audio, Publishing, Programmatic & Search.
  • Take lead on corporate production, including approval of budgets, initiating feedback, review of previews and final assets.
  • Drive the conversation around the format and cadence of media measurement reporting. All reporting will include linkages to the pre-determined metrics/KPI, as need optimization recommendations, and insight into pacing.
  • Evaluate and put into place a plan to take ownership of Con Edisons accounts, including Live Ramp, Meta, Google Ads and Linked In.
  • Review all documentation for accuracy including creative previews, media plans, flowcharts, budget reporting, media reporting, proof of performance, etc. Where issues are found work with the agency to resolve.
  • Assist with monthly budgets including reviewing, processing and approving all advertising related invoices and billing.
  • Support Advertising team during production including coordinating photo and video shoots and serving as a company representative on site. This would also include liaising with our internal resources for access to photos, videos, website links, etc.
  • Work closely with Marketing Insights & Analytics team to implement best in class measurement, including regular reporting, dashboards, ad hoc reports to support other work. Advocate for forward looking measurement tools and processes to ensure we fully transition to a data-driven decision-making organization.
  • Assist in preparing reports for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance and consistency with Con Edison brand across marketing initiatives, e.g., messaging framework, visual assets, and key terminology.
  • Continuously explore other opportunities to enhance Con Edisons advertising whether through meetings with the sales community, independent research, webinars, participation in ANA Conferences, joining of ANA Committees, attendance at events and conferences, etc.
  • Identify opportunities to work with cross-functional marketing teams to deliver cohesive campaign results.

Required Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and Minimum 8 years of work experience

Relevant Work Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of work experience, with 6+ years in progressive roles in advertising, media, marketing, brand strategy and activation, communications, consulting, operations and/or program management, required.
  • 3-5 years Experience managing a team, preferred.
  • Experience with evaluating, and producing creative for both traditional and digital channels, required.
  • Experience in omni-channel paid media planning and strategy, including both traditional and digital channels, required.
  • Ability to help solve problems, wherever they arise, required.
  • Demonstrate independent judgment, critical thinking and initiative, required.
  • Collaborative team member who has worked in a highly integrated team environment, required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and Co-pilot), required.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Workfront, Oracle, Google tools including GA4 and Looker Studio, preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, required.
  • Agency billing and accounts payable experience, preferred.

Additional Physical Demands

  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
