Job Description


Responsible for market research, technical evaluation, and internal transformation of cutting-edge welding equipment, fixtures, and processes,supporting the research and innovation of the company's bumper beams and BIW parts. Lead innovational equipment, fixture, process development and debugging of steel/aluminum arc welding, laser welding, and laser cutting. Achieve efficient technical communication to promote the continuous improvement of the company's welding technology capabilities.

Essential Responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Research and evaluation of cutting-edge welding technology
  • Track market welding technology trends (such as laser composite welding, aluminum steel dissimilar connection, intelligent welding systems), analyze industry dynamics and competitive landscape
  • Conduct research on potential welding equipment, tooling, and automation integration suppliers to evaluate their technical capabilities, cost-effectiveness, and feasibility for implementation
  • Write technical analysis reports(such as data-table, SWOT, ROI) tosupport ShapeNext review.
  • New process development and feasibility verification
  • Development of new processes for steel/aluminum arc welding, laser welding, and laser cutting, designing DOE experiments, and completing parameter optimization
  • Carry out welding process tests for new materials (UHSS, aluminum alloy, and Zinc coated materials, etc.), new welders, new welding modes to improve OEE (quality, re-welding, efficiency).
  • Participate in feasibility reviews which require roll forming process innovations.
  • Equipment and tooling technology transformation
  • Introduce the new welding technology to ShapeNext with research reports (such as data-table, SWOT, ROI)
  • Develop welding process specifications (WPS), equipment operation standards, and maintenance guidelines to promote internal technology transformation
  • Implement the welding priority projectsassigned from ShapeNext and roll out to global team
  • Cross departmental and cross-cultural collaboration
  • Work closely with plant weldingteam to understand the welding technology breakthrough needs.
  • Collaborate with relateddepartments to ensure the timely project implementation
  • Participate in global welding technology roundtable, introduce best practices and localize their applications
  • Additional functions not specifically outlined in this position description as directed by the leader

Qualifications

Position Skills and Experience Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty effectively. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.   • Bachelor's degree or above, majoring in welding, materials engineering, mechanical engineering or related fields
  • More than 5years of experience in developing welding processes for automotive components, familiar with welding requirements for automotive parts (bumper beams, white body structural parts, etc.)
  • Experience in process development and debugging of steel/aluminum arc welding (MIG/MAG), laser welding, and laser cutting
  • Experience in welding equipment selection, tooling design, or new process introduction projects is preferred
  • Proficient in welding metallurgy principles, familiar with common welding defect analysis and prevention methods
  • Familiar with mainstream robotwelding equipment (such as Fronius, Fanuc, Trumpf, etc.) and automation integration systems
  • Knowledge of GD&T
  • MasterAutoCAD software, SolidWorks experience is preferred
  • Fluent in English reading and writing, capable of technical document writing and cross-cultural communication
  • Experience with Microsoft Applications (e.g., word, excel, outlook, PowerPoint, )
