
Transportation Planning Supervisor. This position is directly responsible for and oversees the District's planning staff and serves as a TXDOT representative with multiple agencies and entities throughout the region. This role helps shape and monitor the Houston District's long-range plan in coordination with the Metropolitan Planning Organization. A successful candidate for this position will be able to communicate clearly and effectively, plan work efficiently and be self-motivated. This role has the opportunity to influence the entire region as we work with our partners to improve our transportation system.

Oversees the development of transportation planning functions in a metropolitan district. Reports to the Director of Transportation Planning and Development, Deputy District Engineer, District Engineer. Manages a group of professional, technical, and clerical employees engaged in transportation planning activities. Work requires contact with governmental officials and the public. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.
Essential Duties:
Coordinates development of the Unified Work Program with MPOs and monitors expenditures of federal planning funds.
Develops and monitors the transportation planning budget.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Transportation planning, public transportation, engineering. Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
Licenses and CertificationsValid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
