About the role:
Are you a highly skilled, adaptable professional with the emotional resilience to thrive in a fast-paced Alternative Provision? Join us as an Advanced Teaching Assistant, a role that is as challenging as it is profoundly rewarding. You will be a cornerstone of our classroom, delivering targeted interventions and high-quality learning activities to students who have often found mainstream education a barrier, including those with SEND/Social Emotional and Mental Health needs. In this role, you aren’t just supporting academics; you are building trusted relationships and providing the consistency our students need to re-engage with their learning.
Welcome from the Principal:
Thank you for your interest in the vacancy at Outwood Alternative Provision Eston.
We are a unique centre providing a safe and nurturing environment for vulnerable students who exhibit challenging behaviours and are at risk of exclusion. Our dedicated staff is passionate about providing bespoke, additional support to ensure behavioural, social, emotional, or mental health challenges are never a barrier to success.
With smaller class sizes and an adapted curriculum, we prioritise personal development and student well-being without compromising academic progress. We hold unconditional positive regard for our students, considering strong professional relationships as our first intervention. Our goal is to ensure all students succeed and transition to their next stage with confidence and self-belief.
If you believe every student deserves a champion and share The Outwood vision of raising standards and transforming lives, we would be delighted to welcome you to our team.
We welcome applications from those interested in a job share arrangement; please clearly indicate your preference and proposed working pattern within your application.
If you have any questions or would like to visit the school, please contact Faye Stephenson on f.stephenson@eston.outwood.com.
You will deliver planned learning activities and intervention programmes to small groups or individuals in various environments, adjusting delivery based on student responses. A crucial element is involvement in assessing, monitoring, and recording student development and attainment via appropriate ICT systems, especially tracking the impact of interventions.
The role requires supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) and those for whom English is not their first language. Duties also include providing short-term cover for learning environments, supporting the implementation of individual development plans (like EHCPs), managing resources, and invigilating exams.
Candidates must hold a Level 3 qualification relating to working with children and young people. Essential experience includes working flexibly to meet business needs, working in a school setting or with children/young people, and previous experience supporting students in small group or one-to-one situations.
You must be skilled in delivering interventions and highly proficient in a range of educational ICT packages, such as SIMS, o'Cloud, and Praising Stars. Effective communication, confidentiality, and the ability to relate empathetically to students and recognise potential safeguarding concerns are also necessary.
Outwood Grange Academies Trust (OGAT) places staff development at the heart of its strategy to deliver excellence, aiming to recruit, develop, and retain the best staff through the Outwood Institute of Education (OIE).
