Job Description: Advanced R&D Engineer / Scientist - MPT

An excellent career opportunity is currently available for an Advanced R&D Engineer/ Scientist - MPT, within Honeywell India Technology Center located in Gurugram, India. MPT (Manufacturing & Product Technology) supports prototype development for catalysts and adsorbents, scale-up of new products, commercial trial runs, manufacturing robustness, manufacturing flexibility, capital planning, and raw material procurement issues. MPT is a key interface between R&D, Business, and Manufacturing. This position requires a strong fundamental understanding of catalyst and adsorbent synthesis, manufacturing, scale-up, characterization techniques, pilot plant testing, and broad understanding of catalysts applicable to the Oil & Gas Industry.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead/support new product development projects from MPT group in catalyst/adsorbent space supporting Refinery, Petrochemicals, Renewables, and Natural Gas processing industries
  • Advanced understanding and skills in catalyst/adsorbent manufacturing processes and scale-up, such as, mulling, forming, extrusion, finishing, etc.
  • Advanced understanding of catalyst and adsorbent characterization and analytical techniques needed to troubleshoot manufacturing and scale-up risks
  • Identify and develop innovative solutions, authoring invention disclosures to contribute significantly to UOP’s innovation initiatives
  • Ensure alignment and synergy with other UOP R&D centers and manufacturing locations to drive successful delivery of projects
  • Stay informed about competition, monitor advancements in catalyst/ adsorbent manufacturing technologies, and lead projects designed to address gaps
  • Act as a mentor for less experienced scientists and engineers, fostering their growth and professional development
  • Lead/support in MPT capability building
  • Maintain compliance with Health Safety & Environment (HSE) policies and procedures and adopt HSE requirements for safe laboratory operations

Must Haves:

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with 5 years of relevant industrial experience, OR
  • M.Sc. or B.Tech. in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with 10 years of relevant industrial experience

  • Familiar with Six-Sigma tools and their applications
  • Fundamental knowledge of materials (zeolite, alumina, clay, etc.)
