Job Description (General Summary)

Are you technically curious, hands-on, and comfortable exploring new ideas?

At Intralox, one of the world’s leading innovators in conveyance solutions, we are looking for an Advanced R&D Engineer to join our R&D team in Eindhoven and play a key role in turning emerging technologies into practical products and customer solutions.

Why this role matters

Our Advanced R&D team explores new and emerging technologies that can shape the next generation of Intralox solutions. We work across disciplines including magnetics, motors, actuators, sensing, vision, robotics, and mechatronics. Rather than focusing on one established product or repeating the same assignments, the team investigates varied applications and develops net-new technology. Curiosity, experimentation, collaboration, and practical problem-solving are central to how we work.

As an Advanced R&D Engineer, you will explore promising technologies and translate them into prototypes, concepts, and integrated solutions. Based in Eindhoven, you will work closely with local technical colleagues and collaborate with Advanced R&D team members in the US. You will have the freedom to move between different technologies and applications, combining sound engineering principles with hands-on experimentation to solve real customer challenges.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements

What you’ll do:

  • Explore new and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovative products and customer solutions.
  • Develop and evaluate prototypes to turn early-stage ideas into technically viable concepts.
  • Design, build, and test concepts involving magnetics, motors, actuators, sensing, vision, robotics, or related technologies.
  • Apply simulation and engineering analysis to improve design decisions and reduce technical risk.
  • Use rapid-prototyping methods, including 3D printing, to accelerate learning and concept validation.
  • Investigate supplier technologies and assess their potential for use in future Intralox applications.
  • Combine multiple technologies into integrated solutions that address practical customer needs.
  • Consider machining, injection molding, and other production methods to improve the manufacturability of proposed designs.
  • Document and communicate technical findings so that colleagues across locations can build on your work.
  • Collaborate with engineers in Europe and the US to connect global expertise and advance shared R&D initiatives.
  • Participate in occasional customer visits, installations, and technical collaboration sessions in Europe and the US.

What you bring:

  • A bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in mechatronics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, robotics, applied physics, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least five years of relevant experience in industrial engineering, product development, advanced R&D, or a comparable applied-technology environment.
  • An understanding of manufacturability, including machining, injection molding, and other relevant production processes.
  • Hands-on experience developing, prototyping, testing, or validating physical products and technical concepts.
  • The ability to connect theoretical engineering principles with practical implementation and customer needs.
  • The flexibility to work across unfamiliar technologies and pivot between different applications and development challenges.
  • A curious, open-minded, and collaborative approach, with the confidence to work effectively when requirements or solutions are not yet fully defined.
  • Willingness to work from our Eindhoven office at least three days per week and to travel occasionally.

Nice-to-have: Experience in one or more of the following areas: magnetic drives, motors, actuators, sensing, vision systems, robotics, mechatronics, simulation, or 3D printing.

If you don’t meet every requirement but are excited about the role, we still encourage you to apply.

Why Intralox?

  • International environment with opportunities to grow your career globally.
  • A supportive, high-performing team that values collaboration.
  • A workplace driven by ideas, innovation, and ownership.
  • A financially strong, market-leading brand.
  • Performance-based profit sharing.
  • 25 holiday days + 6 ATV days.
  • Excellent benefits package including a mobility card for business and personal use, pension scheme and contributions to health & life insurance.
