Job Description

Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (Gastroenterology)

**Gastroenterology experience strongly preferred**

About the Position:

Provides medical services for a broad range of patients, which can include geriatric, adults, adolescents and infants depending on specialty. Scope of care is defined by the medical or surgical specialty which employs the APP. A collaborating physician (M.D. or D.O.) provides direction and regular review of the medical services provided by the APP as set forth in the Practice Description and approved by the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners. Services will be reviewed and approved by the Medical Director through periodic chart review.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides professional service to patients in the assigned practice and demonstrates regard for the dignity of all patients, guests and associates
  • Performs and documents assessments and data collection in an ongoing, timely, accurate, concise and systematic manner while accommodating unexpected changes in patient status
  • Delegates and coordinates tasks and duties of the healthcare team.
  • Renders all services promptly and diligently in accordance with professional and ethical standards of the medical community and scope of practice in which the provider practices.
  • Uses effective communication skills taking into consideration body language, filters, listening, paraphrasing, and questions with customers of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate from a Physician Assistant training program or completion of recognized Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current Oregon Board of Medical Examiners, unlimited Physician Assistant License or Licensed to practice medicine as a Nurse Practitioner by the State of Oregon/Oregon State Board of Nursing.
  • Fulfills requirements of hospital medical staff credentialing process.
  • Maintains active staff membership in good standing with the medical staff of the hospital with all privileges and responsibilities accorded such membership.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS
