Cardiothoracic Surgery PA/APP – Clinical Training Pathway


Location: AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center – Pomona, NJ
Department: Cardiothoracic Surgery


AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center is seeking a motivated PA/APP to join our Cardiothoracic Surgery team through a structured Clinical Training Pathway designed to develop advanced surgical and peri-operative skills. This role is ideal for candidates with strong interest in CT Surgery who are eager to grow in a hands-on, highly supportive environment.

Preferred Background:

  • Experience on a surgical floor, surgical/CT ICU, or prior exposure to CT Surgery
  • Comfort managing post-operative patients within a multidisciplinary care team

Training & Professional Development:

  • Comprehensive training in first assisting, endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH), and peri-operative patient management
  • Structured 1–2 year development period with progressive responsibility as competencies are achieved
  • Ongoing mentorship from experienced CT Surgery PAs and attending surgeons

Key Responsibilities (as competencies are met):

  • Participate in first assist responsibilities for adult cardiothoracic surgical procedures
  • Perform (or train to perform) endoscopic vein harvesting for CABG cases
  • Manage post-operative patients in the ICU, step-down, and inpatient units
  • Collaborate closely with surgeons, APPs, residents, and nursing staff to support high-quality patient care
