Advanced Practice Provider (APRN/PA) -General Cardiology and Cardiac Imaging -(260001NQ)

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides general and specialty medical and/or surgical services to individuals, families and groups, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention as well as diagnosis and management of acute and chronic diseases. The APP will have an opportunity to practice autonomously and collaboratively within their established scope. All TGH team members are responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values in accordance with Tampa General Hospital.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs and supervises exercise, pharmacologic, and dobutamine stress echocardiography (DSE) testing, including nuclear stress tests.

  • Manages the Transesophageal Echocardiogram (TEE) consult service, including clinical evaluation, informed consent, coordination, and peri‑procedural oversight in collaboration with cardiology attendings.

  • Provides cardiology consultative care, including assessment and management of patients with acute and chronic cardiovascular conditions.

  • Evaluates imaging appropriateness, reviews diagnostic and imaging data, and develops assessment and treatment recommendations.

  • Communicates findings and care plans to referring providers and interdisciplinary teams.

  • Manages follow‑up care, including medication optimization and coordination of additional testing as indicated.

  • Provides patient and family education related to cardiovascular conditions and cardiac imaging procedures.

  • Ensures timely, accurate documentation and participates in protocol development and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Works autonomously as well as in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to assess, diagnose and manage patient's health care concerns.

  • Maintains all required documents with supervising physician, medical staff and TGH, asr equired by state professional regulatory agencies.

  • Coordinates patient care in the inpatient and/or ambulatory setting, understanding and utilizing the available resources, to provide world class patient care.

  • Participate in departmental and organizational mandatory meetings and trainings, as well as performance improvement activities, such as the development and revision of standards, protocols or critical pathways.

  • Performs duties according to established procedures, protocols, professional standards, and evidence-based guidelines.

  • Requests, interprets and evaluates diagnostic and laboratory tests and takes appropriate actions as medically indicated in accordance with standards of care.

  • Identifies and escalates any specific signs and symptoms, problems or potential problems requiring further assessment, communication and/or intervention to promote positive outcomes.

  • Flexibility in meeting the needs and ensuring the well-being of those patients under our care.

  • Adaptability to the clinical service needs.

  • Involvement with quality and safety initiatives in accordance with high reliability standards.

  • Promotes education of other professionals in developing skills and knowledge related to providing optimum health care.

  • Demonstrates a commitment to compassion, care, inclusion, and integrity in all interactions with patients, families, and team members.

  • Provides education to patients and their families, as well as educational outreach to the community.

  • Demonstrates initiative and leadership qualities in interactions with teams, assigned project and/or groups.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Demonstrates current knowledge and level of expertise utilizing evidence-based practice, infection control standards and clinical evaluations in providing care to clients in clinic or hospital-based settings, as evidenced by following established guidelines and protocols.

  • Practices Evidence-Based Medicine

  • Comfortable interacting and working with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

  • Demonstrates the ability to critically think and make complex decisions in a dynamic

  • environment.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Outstanding customer service and conflict resolution abilities.

  • Practices at the top of license with independent decision making guided by evidence

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Degree Major

  • Master's Degree Nurse Practitioner Or Master's Degree Physician Assistant

License/Registration

  • License/Registration - Issued by Florida or Compact State And/Or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Or Physician Assistant

Certification

  • Certification And/Or Nationally Accredited Nurse Practitioner Board certification Or Nationally Accredited Physician Assistant Board certification
