Key Responsibilities:
Inpatient:
Conduct comprehensive assessments including history, physical examinations, interpretationof diagnostic studies.
Acute management of hematology and oncology patients in the inpatient setting
Evaluate and triagenew consults
Order and interpret laboratory studies, diagnostic testing
Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans with collaborating physicians
Provide patient education ondisease management,lifestyle modifications, and medication management
Assistwith hospital rounding,consults, and discharge planning
Participate in care coordination with other providers and specialties.
Document all patient encounters thoroughly and accurately in the Electronic Medical Record
Maintain compliance with organizational policies, regulatory guidelines, and best practice standards.
Infusion:
Evaluate patients prior to chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive infusions
Ensure treatment readiness, including lab review, toxicity assessment, and performance status evaluation.
Authorize and manage treatment plansin accordance withclinical protocols
Identifyand manage infusion-related reactions and adverse events
Collaborate with pharmacy and infusion nursing to ensure safe and effective therapy delivery
Outpatient Oncology Clinic:
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including history, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic studies.
Develop and manage individualized treatment plans in collaboration with medical oncologists.
Monitor disease progression, treatment response, and symptom burden
Prescribe and adjust oncology therapies, supportive medications, and symptom management regimens.
Evaluate and triage new patient referrals and follow-up visits.
Order and interpret laboratory studies, diagnostic testing
Provide patient education on disease management, lifestyle modifications, and medication management
Participate in care coordination with other providers and specialties.
Document all patient encounters thoroughly and accurately in the Electronic Medical Record
Maintain compliance with organizational policies, regulatory guidelines, and best practice standards.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program
National Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Certification (APRN) OR national board certification as a Physician Assistant.
Current Physician Assistant or APRN license in the State of Florida.
AONCP Certification
BLS/ACLS
Preferred Skills:
2 years of Oncology Experience
Experience in Bone Marrow Biopsiesa plus
Experience with Epic Electronic Medical Record
