Job Description

Position Summary:

Help advance the future of aerospace repair through cutting-edge additive manufacturing technologies. UDRI invites qualified applicants to apply for our Advanced Manufacturing Repair Engineer opening!

This position will support the Additive Manufacturing Repair Technologies Group in the Advance Manufacturing Division. The position will serve as a repair engineer for the AMRT Engineering Team developing test plans, reports, and repair procedures. The successful candidate will understand cold spray repair, equipment, and repair set-up and pre- and post-processing. This role will build and execute material test matrix on cold spray as well as assisting in developing novel testing methods. The majority of work will support government customers.


Minimum Qualifications:

• BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, Materials or Chemical Engineering or related engineering field).
• 2 years engineering/technical process design, additive manufacturing, cold spray, or advanced manufacturing technologies with an emphasis on testing and validation of process and product.
• Proven ability to create, read and interpret models, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
• 2 year of experience working with cold spray equipment.
• Working Knowledge of Industrial robot programing and operation
• Working knowledge of the production processes for cold spray to design and support repairs for the USAF
• Experience with process documents generation for quality standards such as ISO9001 or AS9100.
• Due to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. citizen.


Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Bachelor’s degree (Mechanical or Aerospace engineering or related engineering field).
• 4 years of engineering/technical experience with cold spray, thermal spray, additive manufacturing, or other advanced manufacturing techniques
• Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling, design, and drafting
• Experience with SolidWorks PDM for configuration management, version control, and workflow processes
• Strong understanding and practical application of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) in engineering drawings and design documentation
• Working knowledge of the production processes for cold spray to design and support repairs for the USAF
• Experience with development and execution of Cold Spray Training
• 4 years of experience with creating and executing component and system level validation and qualification test plans, as well as analysis of test data and results.
