JOB OVERVIEW

PATIENT INFORMATION

  • Case Mix: Advanced heart failure, cardiogenic shock, and heart failure patients

  • Rounding: Required on weekends (Saturday and Sunday)

FACILITY INFORMATION

  • Specialty Backup Available: Integrated AHF cardiology and surgical program; multidisciplinary team includes APPs and surgeons

  • Support Staff Available: APPs (NP/PA) round with physician most days; may be absent on PTO/CME days

REQUIRED PROCEDURES

  • Management of short-term mechanical circulatory support devices (Impella, ECMO)

  • Management of advanced heart failure and cardiogenic shock patients

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Board: BC/BE by the ABIM in Advanced Heart Failure/Transplant

  • Experience: More than 5 years post-fellowship experience preferred

  • Other Qualifications: Completion of an ACGME accredited heart failure fellowship; NPDB reports no older than 3 months and clear only

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide weekend call coverage (Friday 5pm – Monday 8am) including rounding on Saturday and Sunday.

  • Manage advanced heart failure, cardiogenic shock, and heart failure patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including APPs, surgeons, and other specialists.

  • Coordinate care with regional heart transplant referral centers for patients requiring transplant.

  • Utilize short-term mechanical circulatory support devices (Impella, ECMO) as part of advanced heart failure management.
