Bring your medical experience and passion for patient care as an Endoscopy Technician at our Banner University Medical Center Phoenix location. In this role, you will have an opportunity to assist in all types of GI, Biliary and Pulmonary procedures. This also includes the opportunity to participate in advanced/interventional Biliary and Pulmonary procedures. Remote procedures are also performed throughout the facility. This is a fast paced, collaborative environment!

SHIFT DETAILS

Employment Type: Full-time

Hours per Week: 4-10s | 40hrs

Shift: day shift - start times may vary between 6:30AM-8AM

Schedule: Monday-Friday

On Call: Yes, weekend and holiday rotations required.

Enjoy a flat rate $5/hr for call, $1/hour weekend shift differential and an 18%-night shift differential, when applicable.

This position assists with prescribed endoscopic procedures in accordance with department/facility policies, procedures, and protocols. The incumbent is responsible for the care, handling, and processing of endoscopy procedural equipment and turnover of the procedure rooms. This role assists and shows a high level of proficiency with general GI cases, advanced GI cases and pulmonary cases. This position ensures optimal care/treatment to all patient population. The incumbent also participates in the training and orientation of onboarding new Endoscopy Technicians and students, as assigned.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Assists with case preparations, ensures equipment is readily available and working properly, in addition to being knowledgeable in selecting the appropriate instruments and supplies that physicians request for the case. Assists in maintaining the most accurate and up-to-date information on preference cards for cases and physicians in the facility. Reviews cases on a daily basis and communicates with care team about supply needs, equipment repairs, and educational needs from vendors. Troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment, makes minor adjustments, or calls biomedical equipment staff. Checks schedule daily and plans for upcoming procedural case needs.

2. Assists in performing endoscopic procedures in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Works closely with infection control and ensure that audits are being performed and shared with fellow endoscopy technicians. Anticipates and prepares for changing needs.

3. Demonstrates the principles of aseptic technique and universal precautions throughout the procedure. Disposes of sharps and trash. Responsible for the cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing and storing scopes. Ensures that unused supplies are returned appropriately.

4. Keeps up to date with all SGNA and AAMI standards for endoscopy and helps ensure compliance by performing audits and completing continuous education.

5. Demonstrates a wealth of knowledge of all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment. Assist with proper set up of equipment and positioning devices/patients in procedures rooms. Assist with the cleaning/stocking of procedure rooms and carts. Ensures that equipment is stocked/stored for upcoming cases.

6. Works alongside with physicians and lead nurse to ensure that all preference cards and pick lists are accurate.

7. Assists with procedure room turnover between cases. Participates in stocking, replenishing supplies and cleaning procedure rooms. Participants in or leads training and orientation of surgical technology staff and students, as assigned.

8. May provide business support to the department including administrative tasks. Internal customers are patients, surgeons, and nursing staff. External customers may include practicing physicians, patient families and vendors or sales reps.

9. Follows safety procedures regarding appropriate handling of specimens, appropriate handling of sharps, time-out procedure, radiation and laser safety, infection control, assembling and disassembling instruments. Displays proficiency with general GI cases, Advanced GI cases and pulmonary cases. Participates in emergency call rotation.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.

This position requires clinical knowledge normally associated with two to three years experience as an Endoscopy Technician.

Must demonstrate excellent organizational, communication and human relations skills.
Certification for BLS required. SGNA Certification required within one year in role.
