Advanced Endoscopist (MD/DO)
The Advanced Endoscopist provides specialized diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic care for patients with complex gastrointestinal and pancreaticobiliary disorders. This role focuses on advanced endoscopic procedures, multidisciplinary collaboration, and evidence-based care to improve patient outcomes in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage patients with complex gastrointestinal, biliary, and pancreatic conditions
- Perform advanced endoscopic procedures consistent with training and privileges, including ERCP, EUS, advanced polypectomy, endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR), endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), and management of gastrointestinal bleeding
- Provide inpatient gastroenterology consultation services and outpatient clinic care
- Collaborate with hepatology, surgery, oncology, radiology, and interventional teams for comprehensive patient management
- Interpret diagnostic studies including pathology, imaging, and laboratory data related to endoscopic care
- Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and tumor boards as applicable
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, procedural risks, benefits, and follow-up care
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiatives
- Supervise and educate fellows, residents, advanced practice providers, or endoscopy staff as applicable
- Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency program
- Completion of an accredited Gastroenterology fellowship program
- Completion of an accredited Advanced Endoscopy fellowship
- Board-eligible or board-certified in Gastroenterology
- Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure
- DEA registration or eligibility

- Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for procedural and clinical care
