Emergency Medical Services Overview:
Covenant Health Emergency Medical Services (EMS) ensures rapid response with specially trained personnel and a fleet of vehicles that are equipped with cutting-edge technology. The Covenant Health EMS team improves patient care and outcomes, supports post-discharge planning, and enhances community engagement. Working closely with all Covenant medical centers as well as several non-Covenant facilities, our EMS team ensures that advanced-level transport options are available when needed.
The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) is a public safety professional that responds to medical emergencies and other medical transport needs in pre-hospital and interfacility settings. Upon arrival, the AEMT performs triage and initial survey, provides emergency care through careful assessment of the patient, and recognizes injuries and illnesses. The AEMT shall also gain knowledge of pre-existing medical conditions, previous medications, medical preferences, and identification of the patient.
Minimum Education:
None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience:
Two (2) years of experience in EMS or in another healthcare setting preferred.
Licensure Requirement:
Must have and maintain a TN AEMT license OR a valid, unrestricted license in any Compact Member State. Employee must have a valid driver’s license and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
