Job Description

Role Purpose:

The Advanced Analytics Manager is a highly capable project manager, cross-functional collaborator, and subject matter expert who will design, develop, and champion the use of next generation analytics and LLM-based AI tools across the commercial organization. This will foster a culture of data-driven decision making and amplify sales efficiency and impact.

This team is responsible for a range of analytics and tools for home office, sales, and medical, including:

  • Next best action (NBA)
  • Data modeling to support sales impact analysis
  • Customer data platforms
  • LLM-based AI assistants
  • Other analytics or AI related projects as required

Potential Accountabilities:

  • Project Management
    • Next best action (NBA) continually refine the “what” (quality of suggestions offered to customer facing teams), the “how” (user interface, methodology to deliver NBA), and the “why” (value proposition and buy-in from stakeholders) by proactively engaging business teams (voice of the user). Then, ensure high quality technical delivery by engaging and managing development resources both within and outside of Japan.
    • Data modeling to support sales impact analysis Develop and consolidate multiple methodologies to derive impact of various customer engagement channels, e.g. identifying the right tool for the job among multiple data models. Subject of analysis includes various activity types of face-to-face sales reps, medical science liaisons, as well as owned and 3rd party digital channels and peer-to-peer events.
    • Customer data platforms manage ongoing effort to consolidate key customer data into modern, easy to use data platforms to facilitate analysis and integration with other projects (e.g. impact analysis, RAG for AI assistants)
    • LLM based AI assistants manage effort to establish interactive LLM-based chat assistant for commercial and medical home office roles as well as CFTs, which will simplify data access and analysis, and accelerate reporting and digestion of CFT insights
    • Other analytics or AI related projects this team will act as the commercial organization’s champion for advanced analytics, championing best practices and access to tools to avoid duplication and unnecessary siloes.

  • Report to Head of Customer Insight & CFT Enablement, Customer Experience Excellence Division
  • Interaction with stakeholders:
    • Global colleagues in IT, CEX, and other departments
    • Colleagues in each TA, including TA Heads, Marketing Department and Sales departments
    • Colleagues in Customer Experience Excellence Dept., including Data Excellence and Customer Engagement and Strategy Planning & Excellence groups
    • Third party partners, including data providers as well as other vendors offering technology platforms

Qualifications:

<Knowledge>

  • Solid understanding of both pharmaceutical business and analytics
  • Understanding of analytics with common sense for business objectives
  • Understanding of data platforms and how data flows between systems and can be processed for various downstream analytical tasks
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant external and internal data (IQVIA, JMDC, etc.) including what data is available, data structure, and up-stream processes used to generate such data
