We are seeking a full-time Adult Inpatient Psychiatrist to join a behavioral health hospital in Petersburg, Virginia. This role offers strong compensation, flexible employment structure, and a fully staffed support team, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality inpatient psychiatric care while leading a collaborative treatment team.

• Employment Type: Full-Time (Employed or Independent Contractor option)• Schedule / Hours: Full-time inpatient schedule• Call: Shared call (weeknights by phone; weekend rounding)• Patient Volume: Adult and Adolescent inpatient caseload (manageable, team-supported)• Location: Petersburg, VA (Richmond metro area)• Practice Setting: Inpatient Behavioral Health Hospital (Adult, Military or Adolescent Unit)• Support / Care Team: Psychiatrists, APPs, nursing staff, therapists, case managers

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient psychiatric care to adult and adolescent patients with mental health and substance use disorders• Conduct admission evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans• Lead multidisciplinary treatment teams to ensure coordinated care• Manage daily patient care, including medication management and progress evaluations• Participate in on-call coverage and weekend rounding as scheduled• Collaborate with physicians, APPs, and clinical support staff• Document patient care, treatment plans, and clinical updates

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry• Active or eligible Virginia medical license• Minimum of 4 years of training/practice experience• Inpatient psychiatry experience preferred• Meets credentialing requirements for medical staff
