Job Description

Salary: $20.64/hour

An employee in this position is required to participate in all required training through the Interstate Commission for Adult Offender Supervision (ICOTS). The employee must be familiar with and keep current with modifications to the Interstate Compact rules and Regulations. The employee must abide by ICOTS bylaws and policies for completion of transfer applications. An employee in this position provides oversight, professional guidance, and ongoing professional collaboration with the supervising officer in the receiving state. He/she electronically corresponds (per ICOTS regulations) with the officers in the receiving state to ensure compliance with the rules of supervision, special conditions are being met and court ordered fines/costs are being paid. The employee also provides oversight, professional guidance, and ongoing counseling to persons assigned to his/her authority. He/she consults with offenders’ friends, families, and associates; employers; law enforcement and social service agencies; and other state Probation professionals, pursuant to composition and fulfillment of respective rehabilitation plans. The Officer monitors Offenders by telephone, computer, and afield; and prepares regular and special reports to his/her Supervisor and/or the Court, as the latter directs.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in social or behavioral sciences, criminal justice, law enforcement or related field. Experience in a related field and/or internship. Act 33/34 clearances are required.

Other Requirements:

The individual in this position must check their emails and phone messages daily and respond to any emails/messages within a minimum of 24 business hours. He/she must also participate in primary and secondary court duty rotation.

A valid driver's license and positive driving record, a favorable criminal background check and favorable child abuse and FBI clearances are required.

Working during non-traditional hours may at times be required.

Other Requirements:

Probation Officers carry a firearm when they perform their duties, and they must pass their firearm certification each year.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL CONDITIONS

1. Must be able to complete Phase I (classroom) Safety Training.

2. Must be able to complete Phase II (physical) Control Tactics Training.

3. Must be able to complete and maintain Act 158 Firearms Certification, stress fire, night shoot and continuing education training.
