Description

Peer Support Specialist at Interlude

Are you passionate about supporting individuals through emotional distress or crisis using empathy, respect, and shared experience?

We welcome applicants with relevant lived experience and a deep commitment to peer support values.

Hours: 20 hours/week
Availability: Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays preferred

As a Peer Support Specialist at Interlude—a welcoming, non-clinical crisis support space—you will support adults experiencing emotional distress or life disruption. You’ll engage in supportive, person-centered dialogue, grounded in mutuality, lived experience, and trust. Support may include talking through challenges, participating in calming or creative activities, and co-developing plans for moving through difficult times.

Qualifications:

· Personal experience with emotional distress, mental health challenges, trauma, or other life-interrupting events — and a desire to support others through mutual connection.

· Ability to build authentic relationships across diverse backgrounds, grounded in curiosity, trust, and respect for others’ self-knowledge.

· Comfort holding space for a wide range of emotional experiences without judgment or the need to “fix.”

· Deep commitment to the values of self-defined recovery and healing.

· Willingness to engage in advocacy and contribute to shifting systems toward more person-centered, dignity-driven models of care.

· Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for local travel.

· Intentional Peer Support training is a plus but not required. We value lived experience and are committed to supporting new team members through training.

Structure:

- Part-time, Flexible Hours. Weekly Team Meetings on Wednesdays from 10am-12pm

- Benefits eligible for positions of 20 hours or more

- Starting wages: $23.57
