Job Title: Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist (Head & Neck / ENT / Stroke / Neurosciences)
Banding: Band 6/7
Location: London (Royal London Hospital or Whipps Cross Hospital)
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £24.00–£35.00 per hour
Working Hours: Full-time / Part-time

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join acute hospital teams across London, based at either the Royal London Hospital or Whipps Cross Hospital. This role offers the opportunity to work within dynamic multidisciplinary teams supporting adult patients across specialist areas including Head & Neck, ENT, Stroke, and Neurosciences.

This position is suitable for an experienced Band 6 clinician or a developing Band 7 therapist looking to expand their clinical expertise in acute settings. You will play a key role in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of communication and swallowing disorders, contributing to high-quality patient care and rehabilitation outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:
• Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders (including dysphagia).
• Work with patients across acute pathways including Head & Neck, ENT, Stroke, and Neurosciences.
• Deliver evidence-based interventions tailored to individual patient needs.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including medical, nursing, and allied health professionals.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation in line with professional standards.
• Participate in team meetings, ward rounds, and discharge planning.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:
• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
• HCPC registration and membership (or eligibility) with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
• Proven experience in dysphagia assessment and management.
• Experience working within stroke or neurosciences caseloads.
• Experience in Head & Neck or ENT settings is desirable.
• Knowledge or experience in voice therapy is advantageous.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in acute settings.
