About Us: Block Institute is dedicated to providing exceptional support to individuals with developmental disabilities. Our Adult Day Program focuses on promoting independence, social skills, and community integration for the individuals we serve.

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our Adult Day Program. As a DSP, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities during their daily activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting their well-being.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Starting Salary:

  • DSP 1: $16.50/hour (No experience, must maintain CPR certification, missing either driver's license or SCIP)

  • DSP 2: $17.48/hour (With valid driver's license, CPR, and SCIP certifications)

  • DSP 3: $19.03/hour (With valid driver's license, CPR, SCIP, and AMAP certifications)

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our Adult Day Program. As a DSP, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities during their daily activities, ensuring their safety, and promoting their well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist individuals with goals including independent living activities, personal care, meal preparation, academics and work readiness.

  • Support individuals in participating in community activities and recreational outings.

  • Implement individualized service plans and behavioral support plans.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and progress notes.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes independence and self-esteem.

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of people supported at all times.

Qualifications



Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • No experience necessary – we provide the necessary training.

  • DSP 1: Must maintain CPR certification.

  • DSP 2: Valid driver's license, CPR, and SCIP certifications (training provided by the agency).

  • DSP 3: Valid driver's license, CPR, SCIP, and AMAP certifications.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature.

  • Ability to work Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM.

  • Fully Vaccinated for COVID-19 required

Block Institute of Brooklyn, New York, is a non-profit, non-sectarian agency dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with disabilities and their families. Established in 1962, Block Institute has extensive experience providing individualized services for children and adults with developmental disabilities.

For nearly 50 years, Block Institute has been a beacon of hope for the developmentally disabled and their families. Our program offerings include Special Education and Evaluation Services for children with special needs ages three to eight years old. For adults with disabilities who are age 18 and older, we provide Day Habilitation, Vocational Services, Day Treatment, and quality Residential Care in a family like setting. Our adult programs help individuals with disabilities to develop increased independence, individuality, productivity and community inclusion.
