
Job Title: Locum Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist
Banding: Band 6
Location: South West London
Start Date: ASAP
Rate: £24.00–£30.00 per hour
Working Hours: Full-time or Part-time
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist to join a dynamic multidisciplinary team in South West London. This is an exciting locum opportunity for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist with experience managing acute adult caseloads.
In this role, you will provide a high-quality, evidence-based Speech and Language Therapy service to adult inpatients presenting with acquired swallowing and communication difficulties. Working across a range of acute specialities, you will play a key role in assessing, diagnosing, and managing patients to support their recovery and maximise their communication and swallowing function.
In this role, you will:
• Assess, diagnose, and manage adult inpatients with acquired communication and swallowing disorders.
• Deliver evidence-based Speech and Language Therapy interventions tailored to individual patient needs.
• Manage an acute adult caseload across a variety of clinical specialities.
• Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team to support patient-centred care and discharge planning.
• Provide specialist advice and recommendations to patients, families, carers, and healthcare professionals.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional and organisational standards.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case discussions, and service development initiatives where appropriate.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
• Current HCPC registration.
• Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
• Previous experience working within an acute adult Speech and Language Therapy setting.
• Experience assessing and managing adults with dysphagia and acquired communication disorders.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and clinical reasoning skills.
• The ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
