We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist to join the team at Barnet Hospital in London This is a flexible opportunity offering both full-time and part-time hours, with an immediate start available.
The successful candidate will work across Respiratory, Surgery and ICU, with additional support provided to other inpatient teams including medical wards, elderly care, emergency department, and acute stroke wards as required.
This role is well suited to a therapist with strong acute experience who is confident managing complex adult caseloads within a fast-paced NHS hospital environment.
In this role, you will:
Assess, diagnose and manage adults with complex speech, language, communication and swallowing difficulties within acute care settings.
Provide specialist input across Respiratory, Surgery and Intensive Care Units.
Support additional inpatient teams including medical, elderly care, emergency department and stroke wards as required.
Deliver evidence-based intervention plans tailored to individual patient needs.
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support safe discharge planning and patient recovery.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation in line with HCPC and NHS standards.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
HCPC registration.
Experience working with adults in acute care settings.
Band 7 level clinical experience within adult acute services.
Relevant CPD and post-graduate training.
NHS experience (desirable).
Excellent communication and clinical reasoning skills.
