Working Hours: Full-time or Part-time (37.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm)
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist to join a busy NHS hospital setting at Barnet Hospital. This role will involve working primarily across general medical and elderly care wards, with opportunities to support additional inpatient teams including surgical, respiratory and acute stroke services as required.
This position is suitable for a Band 6 therapist or an experienced Band 7 clinician who is confident working within acute care. You will play a key role in the assessment, diagnosis and management of adults presenting with swallowing and communication difficulties, contributing to high-quality, patient-centred care within a multidisciplinary team.
In this role, you will:
Assess, diagnose and manage adults with speech, language and swallowing disorders within an acute hospital setting.
Work primarily across general medical and elderly care wards, with flexibility to support surgical, respiratory and acute stroke teams as needed.
Deliver evidence-based interventions and contribute to discharge planning and onward referrals.
Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including medical, nursing and therapy colleagues.
Maintain accurate, timely and professional clinical documentation in line with NHS and professional standards.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
Band 6–level experience working with adults in an acute hospital setting (or above).
Relevant postgraduate CPD and training aligned with acute adult Speech and Language Therapy practice.
HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
Strong clinical reasoning, communication and organisational skills.
Previous NHS experience (desirable).
