ADTS Engineer Consumer Packaging (m/f/d)

The ADTS engineer is at the forefront of delivering solutions that support our business objectives and the evolving needs of the market. The engineer provides technical support to strategic customers and creates market opportunities for LyondellBasell through application development and technical service activities in consumer packaging segments. The engineer also leads identified product and application development programs in support of market segment strategies and value creation across the chain, from converters to brand owners. The engineer will be responsible for the rapid commercialization of a portfolio of innovation and product improvement projects to improve value and advance important initiatives related to the circular economy and sustainability.

Day in the Life:

• Develops and manages the introduction of new and improved products and applications into the market in coordination with R&D, marketing, and asset management
• Supports the planning and execution of MPCs and subsequent customer trials/approvals in order to achieve continued differentiation through innovation and sustained competitiveness of the established product portfolio.
• Assists in the identification and detailed definition of opportunities for product improvement, recipe cost reductions, and new application needs, as well as threats resulting from competition or regulatory changes, in order to achieve continued differentiation through innovation and optimization and to increase market demand for circular polymers and sustainable solutions based on legislation and brand owner requirements. This includes circular economy and sustainability-related topics, such as the use of recycled polymers and the development of sustainable application solutions.
• Supports customers in optimizing the use of LYB products by explaining product properties and processing capabilities, providing appropriate value-in-use positioning supporting product trials, and investigating customer complaints and processing issues, while coordinating with sales and marketing as appropriate in order to maximize value creation and capture in assigned segments and ensure product risks are identified and appropriately managed internally and by our customers.
• Establishes a strong network with internal and external key stakeholders, including leading customers, machine manufacturers, OEMs, opinion makers, key stakeholders, and industry forums, in order to ensure high-quality market intelligence and the ability to influence industry trends and specifications in LYB’s favor.
• Investigates and resolves customer complaints regarding product performance or quality with a long-term focus on manufacturing excellence.
• Supports profitable product line growth through customer qualifications of new, improved or existing products.
• Oversees the maintenance of product specifications and product data sheets, as well as the provision of data required for product stewardship or legislative matters.

You Bring This Value:

• University technical degree preference in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering or Chemistry or equivalent qualification.
• At least 10 years of work experience in the PE/ PP industry and ability to establish excellent customer relationships, communicate effectively both in writing and orally, and demonstrate an advanced level of technical competency.
• Prior experience in a technical environment, such as R&D, product and/ or application development, or manufacturing, with proven knowledge of products and associated applications, is appreciated.
• Fluency in English is required; one or more other European languages is beneficial.
• Knowledge of customers and brand owners, products and applications in the assigned segment is appreciated.
• This role will entail approximately 30% travel, primarily within Europe.
