Assistant Director of Nursing (12 Month Fixed Term) 37.5 Hours per Week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join the Bon Secours Health System Hospital Galway. Ireland’s Largest Private Healthcare provider.

Job Purpose:

To work collaboratively with the Director of Nursing in the planning, coordination and delivery of day-to-day nursing services, ensuring the effective and efficient utilisation of resources while achieving budgetary objectives and maintaining high standards of clinical care and patient safety.

To support the Director of Nursing in promoting and maintaining a professional image of the nursing service and the hospital, demonstrating excellence in care, communication and relationships with patients, families, consultants and multidisciplinary colleagues.

Ideal Candidate:

Provide a high level of professional and clinical leadership

Provide safe, comprehensive nursing care to service users within the guidelines laid out by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).

Manage, monitor and evaluate professional and clinical standards ensuring an evidence based, care planning approach

Manage own caseload in accordance with the needs of the post

Participate in teams as appropriate, communicating and working in co-operation with other team members

Essential Qualifications:

Be registered in the general division of the Register of Nurses maintained by

Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).

Have a minimum of 7 years post-registration nursing experience.

Have proven track record in Nursing Management at CNM 3 level or above.

Demonstrate the clinical, leadership, managerial and administrative competencies required for this senior leadership role.

Have experience of implementation of service improvement.

Have experience of working in a multi-professional environment.

Possess extensive knowledge/experience of the principles and practices of Nurse Management.

Ideally have completed or be pursuing a relevant Management/leadership qualification.

Basic computer skills.
