Job Description
General Description/Duties and Tasks:
Admissions Outreach Coordinators plans and executes outreach and recruitment activities for the Northern Virginia Community College. Reporting to the Associate Director of Outreach and Recruitment, this position identifies and participates in recruitment and admissions activities primarily within the College’s service area including high schools and surrounding communities.
This position also cultivates strong relationships with prospective students.

Duties and Tasks:

  • Assists prospective applicants on the admissions process, academic programs, and opportunities at the College in-person, virtually, via e-mail communication, and phone.
  • Coordinates on-campus (in-person & virtual) and off-campus events and programs targeted towards prospective students, parents, school counselors, adult learners, and community members.
  • Coordinates the ongoing strategic communications to prospective students and other important populations, as well as maintains a prospect management system and a record of all outreach and recruitment activities.
  • Works closely with departments across the College and organizations within the community.
  • Data collection and reporting.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

  • Ability to travel within service area for recruitment purposes
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues with a diverse student population
  • Ability to oversee the work of student employees and volunteers
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Ability to speak publicly
  • Possess excellent verbal communication, written communication, and interpersonal skills

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience coordinating and facilitating workshops at the K12 or in a postsecondary education setting.
  • Computer experience with familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software tools.
  • Customer service experience with an ability to handle stressful situations.
  • A valid driver’s license with the ability to travel throughout service area.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include some evenings and weekends
  • Must be able to work on different campus locations when needed.

Additional Considerations
Additional Considrations:
  • Experience with technology tools used in systems of higher education.
  • Data management and analytical experience.
  • Experience in sales, recruitment, admissions counseling, academic advising, or marketing.
  • Bilingual (Spanish, preferred).
