Salary: $40,000/yr

The Admissions Counselor is responsible for recruiting undergraduate freshmen, transfer and graduate students, representing the Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University. Recruitment duties include portfolio reviews, developing and managing a recruitment territory, travel to high schools, college fairs, community colleges, colleges, portfolio review sessions and other professional and recruitment events to represent and give presentations about Tyler School of Art and Architecture programs and to provide guidance on AED programs to students, teachers, parents, and guidance counselors. Other duties include assisting in planning and participating in on-campus events; communicating with prospective students in person, by phone, through social media, in writing, and in group presentations; leading special interest groups and high profile guests through Tyler and the enrollment process; evaluating admission applications and responding to appeals from students, parents, and guidance counselors; tracking and reviewing applications; reviewing undergraduate portfolios; enrolling an academically accomplished and diverse student body; and serving as the Tyler and Architecture & Environmental Design Admissions liaison to Temple University when appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned.
* This position requires the following clearances/checks: PA State Police Criminal Background, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, FBI Fingerprint Criminal Background.
* Must possess a valid driver’s license.
* Must be available to work nights and weekends.
* Job offer is contingent upon successfully passing a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
Required Education and Experience
* Bachelor’s degree
* At least one (1) year of directly related experience in an academic setting in higher education or related field.
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Education
* Undergraduate or graduate degree in art and design or related field.
Required Skills and Abilities
* Must be able to assess, critique, and evaluate portfolios of work in areas relative to Tyler School of Art and Architecture programs.
* Must have excellent communication and interpersonal relations skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint.
* Knowledge and use of personal computers and database management required.
* Must have valid driver's license, insurance and access to automobile for off-campus recruitment travel.
* Must be able to read maps effectively. Also required to use air or rail travel.
