Reviews admitting department operations in a nursing home environment and ensures compliance with applicable standards. Oversee the in-patient functions, bed assignments, and completion of preliminary paperwork for entering patients. Work with medical, nursing, and accounting staff to ensure appropriate patient placement. Confirm that all insurance benefits coverage meets standard of admission as dictated by policy. Work with discharge planners from acute care facilities, developing good relationships with those facilities to understand their individual needs. Work with nurses and medical staff at home facility to make sure they are prepared for the patient with all vital information. Conducts self and ensures team is oriented and demonstrates patience, respect, and affection for working with the aging population. Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job.
