The County of San Diego is seeking qualified candidates for the position of:
Interviews will take place week of November 2, 2026. Job offers will be made beginning week of November 9, 2026.
Selected candidates will be hired at Step 1 of the salary range, $44,595.20 annually. County employees are subject to the County Promotion Rule for Step Placement in Accordance with Compensation Ordinance 1.3.5.
June 2027 – 4.77% increase to base pay (3.00% Across-the- Board + 1.77% Market Adjustment)
In addition to the base salary, Admission Clerks assigned to the San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital will receive a 5% location premium.
As an Admissions Clerk, you will perform intake and administrative functions for persons receiving services. This position will interact with a variety of individuals representing diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Admissions Clerk positions are found at various locations including the San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital (SDCPH), Public Health Services -Tuberculosis & Refugee Health Branch and HIV, STD, and the Edgemoor Distinct Part Skilled Nursing Facility.
The San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital (SDCPH) is a publicly funded, free-standing psychiatric hospital. It is a locked facility and a component of the San Diego County Behavioral Health Services' continuum of care. The mission of the Hospital is to provide psychiatric evaluation and crisis intervention-oriented acute treatment for adult residents of San Diego County. The goal of the Hospital is to help stabilize patients' behavioral health crisis, and move ahead to a less restrictive level of care.

The current vacancy is at the San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital, 3853 Rosecrans Street, San Diego, CA 92110, however the eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies in other locations.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficient use of computer systems and have prior experience in a health care setting. Excellent customer service skills, including face-to-face interactions, and ability to navigate difficult situations involving customers of diverse socio-cultural backgrounds is highly desirable.

One (1) year of experience performing admissions or related clerical duties in a hospital, clinic, institution, or closely related work environment.
NOTE: Depending upon assignment and work location, incumbents may be required to work a variety of shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays
