About this position

The Admissions and Social Media Coordinator at the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind (VSDB) manages and coordinates the admissions and enrollment process for prospective students at the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind (VSDB) and supports the school’s communication, marketing, and social media efforts. This position serves as a primary point of contact for prospective families, school divisions, and other stakeholders throughout the admissions process and ensures that admissions activities, student information, records, and enrollment data are accurate, timely, and maintained in

accordance with applicable policies and regulations.

The Admissions and Social Media Coordinator at VSDB promotes awareness of VSDB programs through social media, digital communications, outreach activities, events, and other marketing initiatives. The position works collaboratively with school administration, educational and residential programs, outreach, family engagement, and other departments to support enrollment, communication, and public awareness of VSDB.

Minimum Qualifications

Working knowledge of special education regulations and their application to policies of school programs under the direction and supervision of the Superintendent.

Ability to properly implement policies and procedures of school standards under the direction and supervision of the superintendent

Ability to effectively communicate with the public, students, parents, schools, faculty, staff, and governmental regulatory agencies to provide policy and educational program information

Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and Google applications.

Working knowledge of student information systems (PowerSchool preferred).

Ability to maintain confidential information

Ability to accurately prepare written work, materials, memorandums, letters and reports

Ability to learn record management system per Commonwealth guidelines (Library of Virginia)

Ability to coordinate and manage projects as assigned

Ability to communicate effectively in written and/or spoken English

Ability to work independently, work using a team approach and follow school procedures

Experience interacting with the public in a positive and professional manner

Ability to perform repetitive motion to include standing, sitting, reaching, lifting, walking and bending

Ability to plan for and manage departmental budget in compliance with procurement and finance policies.

Ability to work various shifts and/or participate to the greatest extent possible in meetings, conference calls, or on campus to address emergency situations after normal work hours or on weekends or holidays.

Proficiency level of Intermediate in American Sign Language as measured by the Sign Communication Proficiency Interview or agreement to acquire this level within three years

Completes/attends all required/scheduled training according to stated due dates or as scheduled in accordance with the directives of the Department Head and/or direct supervisor.

Additional Considerations

College coursework in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Considerable experience in a special education setting or the educational environment may substitute for this consideration).

Valid Virginia Driver's License preferred.
