Job Description

Support the day-to-day execution of Landside Operations through routine monitoring, inspection, data recording and operational assistance to ensure safe, orderly and efficient operations across landside facilities at KLIA.

Perform ground duties in accordance with established procedures and instructions, promptly report abnormal conditions or operational issues, and provide accurate information to support the Officer and Executive in managing landside operations.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

1) Monitoring & Inspection

  • Conduct routine patrols and inspections of kerbsides, roadways, pedestrian areas and other landside operational areas in accordance with prescribed procedures and checklists.
  • Observe and identify unsafe conditions, traffic obstruction, infrastructure defects, service deficiencies and other operational irregularities.
  • Promptly report abnormal or critical findings to the Officer, Executive and/or AOCC as instructed.
  • Monitor traffic conditions and vehicle activities within designated operational areas.
  • Assist in monitoring compliance with applicable landside operational requirements.

2) Documentation & Data

  • Complete inspection checklists, operational records and other prescribed documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Assist Officer in performing data entry into designated systems, spreadsheets or applications.
  • Record observations and ground conditions accurately to support operational follow-up and reporting.
  • Maintain proper documentation and records for operational, audit and performance-monitoring purposes.

3) Operational & Site Support

  • Provide ground support during traffic congestion, peak-hour operations, special movements, events and other operational requirements.
  • Assist in traffic management and enforcement activities carried out by Landside Operations.
  • Assist the Officer and Executive in conducting site checks and following up on operational matters.
  • Provide basic assistance in coordinating ground activities involving contractors, operators, service providers and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor assigned operational areas and immediately report situations requiring further intervention.

4) Incident Support

  • Provide ground assistance during traffic congestion, accidents, illegal parking, vehicle breakdowns, infrastructure defects, complaints and other landside incidents.
  • Gather and relay accurate factual information from the site to the Officer, Executive or AOCC.
  • Assist in implementing immediate operational measures as instructed by the Officer or Executive.
  • Support crowd and traffic control activities where required.

5) Compliance & Service

  • Perform duties in accordance with airport policies, Standard Operating Procedures, safety requirements and applicable operational instructions.
  • Assist in monitoring compliance by airport users, operators, contractors and service providers within designated landside areas.
  • Maintain professional conduct when dealing with passengers, airport users and stakeholders.
  • Highlight recurring ground issues or observations to the Officer or Executive for further assessment.

6) Others
Perform any other duties as directed by the superior or Head of Unit within the scope of Landside Operations.

  • Responding promptly to traffic congestion, incidents and other ground operational issues.
  • Maintaining accurate records and reporting while performing operational duties.
  • Dealing professionally with airport users and various stakeholders in challenging situations.
  • Working effectively on rotating shift schedules, including nights, weekends and public holidays.

Skills

  • Good situational awareness and ability to observe ground conditions.
  • Ability to follow operational procedures and instructions accurately.
  • Ability to gather and report clear factual information.
  • Basic communication and coordination skills.
  • Good attention to detail in inspection, documentation and data entry.
  • Basic computer literacy, including Google Workspace applications such as Sheets, Docs and Slides.
  • Ability to remain professional and composed when dealing with airport users and operational incidents.
  • Physically able to perform outdoor patrol and inspection duties for extended periods.
  • Possess a valid driving licence and be comfortable operating a 4WD vehicle where required.

Relevant Industries

Preferred Background: Airport Operations, Traffic Management, Facility Management, Ground Logistics, Security Operations, or General Operations.

Language Proficiency: Functional communication skills in Bahasa Melayu and English to conduct site patrols, report operational incidents, interact professionally with airport users, and complete basic records or digital forms.

Work Experience: Candidates with 1–2 years of experience or exposure in Airport Operations, Facility Management, Hospitality, Transportation, Customer Service, Security Operations, or other similar operational environments are encouraged to apply. Fresh candidates who demonstrate good communication skills, a willingness to learn, and suitability for operational and shift duties may also be considered.

Job Requirements:

  • Must hold a valid driving license (comfort/experience driving 4WD vehicles in operational areas is preferred).
  • Must be willing to work on rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Must be willing and physically able to perform outdoor operational duties, patrols, and site inspections for extended periods.

Education

  • Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia with:
    • Credit in Bahasa Melayu
    • Passed in English
    • Passed in Mathematics

OR

  • Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia Vokasional:
    • Credit in Bahasa Melayu (Code 1104)
    • PNGKA: >2.5
