Summary

The Administrator - Ocean Carrier Services Operations Optimization I will focus on managing vessel arrivals, departures, and cargo operations across the U.S West Coast and Canada, originating from the Far East and Central America. Responsibilities include optimizing vessel operations with a focus on managing vessel working schedules to minimize waiting days and minimize costs where it does not interfere with safe operations. The Administrator also works directly with the commercial team to maintain operational alignment of the vessel schedule with contractual shipment frequency for all PCTC customers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage vessel rotation schedules for U.S. West Coast and Canada ports, adapting plans to changing operational conditions to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable service execution.
  • Review terminal schedules, vessel allocations, and stowage plans to determine optimal working dates and identify operational and financial impacts to port rotation strategies.
  • Coordinate vessel arrivals and departures, working closely with terminals, stevedores, vessels, and service providers to minimize delays and optimize port productivity.
  • Monitor cargo operations within assigned ports to ensure safe, efficient, and seamless execution of loading, discharge, and cargo handling activities.
  • Review shipment documentation and ensure regulatory compliance, including timely completion of import/export requirements and accurate AMS/ACI manifest filings.
  • Identify vessel waiting, operational, and cost risks, and develop mitigation strategies while communicating recommendations and impacts to OCS management.
  • Serve as the primary operational liaison with Glovis Mexico, commercial teams, terminals, stevedores, port authorities, and service providers to ensure alignment of vessel schedules and short-sea operational plans.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate vessel working schedules and coastal schedules to all relevant stakeholders to ensure operational alignment across assigned ports.
  • Cultivate and manage operational relationships with terminals, stevedores, port authorities, and vendors to enhance collaboration, service reliability, and operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, maritime regulations, and port authority requirements while supporting safe and uninterrupted vessel operations.
  • Monitor and analyze cargo operations and port performance KPIs, identifying trends, reporting results, and recommending new performance metrics to support operational excellence.
  • Review labor orders and evaluate additional labor requests to ensure resource utilization is operationally justified, cost-effective, and aligned with cargo operation requirements.
  • Maintain accurate operational records and reporting, including vessel activities, cargo movements, schedule performance, and port operational metrics.
  • Support cost management, budgeting, and operational efficiency initiatives by analyzing expenses, identifying savings opportunities, and recommending process improvements.
  • Lead and participate in operational reviews, cargo quality assessments, and workflow improvement initiatives, identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions to improve service performance and execution.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to optimize workflow consistency and adherence to best practices.
  • Provide administrative support for internal reporting and documentation
  • Collaborate with internal teams on process improvement initiatives.
  • Support additional logistics tasks as required.

Compensation

$68,000 - $80,000 per year (Subject to Compensation Study Upon Candidate Selection)

Education & Experience

  • High School/G.E.D. Required
  • Bachelors Degree Preferred
  • 3- 7 Years of Direct Experience in Ocean Carrier Services, Vessel/Port Operation/Stevedoring Required
  • 5-8 Years of Direct Experience in Ocean Carrier Services, Vessel/Port Operation/Stevedoring Preferred
  • Specialized Trade Training Preferred
  • HAZMAT Training Certificate Preferred
