Administrator (Fixed Term or Secondment)

We're looking for an organised and motivated Administrator to join our Shared Support Services team on a 12-month fixed term or secondment.

This is a varied role that provides essential administration support across a range of business areas. You'll help keep business activities running smoothly through document management, meeting support, record keeping, and general administration services.

Working as part of a supportive team, you'll gain exposure to a wide range of business functions while building valuable administration and organisational skills.

Your daily tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing and maintaining records, documents, and business information
  • Supporting meetings and workshops, including room setup and minute taking
  • Managing shared inboxes and responding to enquiries
  • Processing requests and directing information to the appropriate teams
  • Supporting ordering, tracking, and distribution activities

This role would suit someone who enjoys being organised, supporting others, and working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.

Along with these qualities, you'll offer:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and other digital tools
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities
  • A positive, proactive, and service-focused approach
  • A clean restricted or full New Zealand driver's licence is preferred to support occasional travel to council locations across Auckland but is not essential.

Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou | What we offer

You’ll get to work with a supportive team and make a positive contribution to Tāmaki Makaurau. Working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, you’ll have some flexibility with how those hours are set. You will be based at our CBD office Te Wharau o Tāmaki | Auckland House, with occasional support required at other council locations.

This is a great opportunity to build on your current experience, learn new skills, and further develop your administration career.

This role includes coordinating and moving equipment and supplies from time to time, so applicants should be comfortable undertaking moderate manual handling activities as part of their normal duties.
