About the Opportunity

This is for an open position with the FirstEnergy Service Company, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.

The Administrative Technician provides comprehensive administrative and technical support to the Manager, Facility Operations, Ohio, performing a broad range of functions that require initiative, sound judgment, and effective use of technology. This individual supports daily operations by maintaining databases and records, running reports, and assisting with timekeeping, file management, requisition and invoice processing, and office supply coordination. The Administrative Specialist identifies issues, recommends process improvements, and supports continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of the many FirstEnergy technical platforms.

This position can be located at either the Reading Office in Reading, Pennsylvania or the FirstEnergy Headquarters in Akron, Ohio.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining a safe workplace for coworkers and the community based upon knowledge of potential hazards and industry regulations/requirements.
  • Providing a high level of customer service, continuous support, and proactive involvement to leadership and peers.
  • Performing a variety of moderately technical administrative assignments requiring initiative, judgment, and well-developed knowledge and skills; assignments could include researching, developing, and implementing work input methods for each team in Administrative Services.
  • Maintaining databases and lists associated with Administrative Services' programs initiating upgrades to improve service and responsiveness.
  • Running various reports to support Administrative Services' objectives.
  • Evaluating technology tools and implement improvements to enhance work request and preventative maintenance activities and processes to migrate to more electronic systems and away from paper systems.
  • Supporting team members with routine day-to-day and administrative activities including timekeeping, creating and maintaining traditional and electronic files and records, distributing mail, answering telephone calls, processing requisitions, expense statements and invoices, and maintaining office supply inventory.
  • Maintaining and enhancing an electronic forum for employees to provide feedback on service and response to requests for the Administrative Services Team.
  • Maintaining and updating document, record, and drawing storage utilizing electronic tools such as SharePoint and FileNet.
  • Performing general SAP administrative work.
  • Compiling and researching data for projects and reports.
  • Taking initiative to solve problems and bringing issues to closure.
  • Demonstrating a willingness to question established procedures and processes.
  • Providing sound internal and external customer service and responding in a prompt, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Supporting a workplace of respect, appreciation and acceptance.
  • Travelling to off-site locations and working outside regular business hours, as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum 7 to 10 years related work experience is required. Related work experience includes administrative support and customer support.
  • Pass the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Support and Administrative Selection System (SASS) test.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Proficient in SAP.
  • Able to follow established procedures and instructions, identify improvement opportunities, and produce high quality work products in a thorough, timely and accurate manner.
  • Demonstrates a questioning attitude and experience making recommendations for process improvements when appropriate.
  • Develops knowledge, skills and perspective.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment; demonstrates organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize and adapt to shifting priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills including the ability to be friendly, courteous and helpful to internal and external customers.
  • Able to deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines; maintains the confidentiality of sensitive information.

FirstEnergy takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. In addition, your actual base salary will depend on various factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience.

The estimated base pay range for this role is $49,500 - $65,500.
