Job Description

BENEFITS

Basic Purpose

The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety legal division is seeking a detail-oriented professional to help process driver medical records and provide timely service to the public.

Key Responsibilities

• Process daily cancellation, Periodic Medical Report (PMR), and PMR reminder lists in accordance with unit procedures; maintain related calendars and SharePoint records.
• Review Request for Driver Review forms, determine required next steps under applicable procedures, and prepare correspondence for drivers and Service Oklahoma.
• Respond professionally to questions from the public and agency staff by phone, email, and in person.
• Research Oklahoma statutes and administrative rules concerning driver medical standards, explain applicable requirements, and identify questions that require legal review.
• Process returned and incoming mail and provide phone coverage for the Legal unit.
• Other administrative duties as assigned.

Level Descriptor

This is the specialist level where employees will independently perform most complex and technical duties, such as preparing presentations through manipulation of data, or preparing documents for audits or special reports. Some responsibility may be assigned for the functional supervision of other employees on a limited basis.

Education and Experience

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of two years of clerical office experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

Knowledge required at this level include

• Office methods and procedures
• Grammar, punctuation and spelling; of mathematics
• Preparing and interpreting charts and graphs
• Basic bookkeeping procedures
• Inventory techniques
• Telephone procedures
• Standard business communications
• Current office technologies

Skill is required to operate office machines including computers.

Ability required at this level includes

• Following oral and written instructions
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others
• Establishing and maintaining filing systems
• Preparing documents, reports, and files for dissemination to external sources

Special Requirements

Some positions may require skill in typing accurately from plain copy at a rate of forty words per minute.

Department of Public Safety positions are safety sensitive as defined by 63 O.S. § 427.8.
