Description

The Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet advances education, workforce development, and economic opportunity
across the Commonwealth. The Cabinet provides education and training programs, employment and reemployment
services, unemployment insurance, and disability determination services to help Kentuckians gain skills, find
work, and maintain economic stability. It partners with education providers, workforce boards, and employers
to align training with labor market needs and oversees labor programs that promote fair and safe workplaces.

It is the mission of the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives to provide information access for the
citizens, businesses, and agencies of the Commonwealth. To help the state maintain its competitive edge, the
department offers comprehensive services which assure that our clientele have access to information resources:
virtual, physical and human. As one of 10 state agencies in the country to combine library, archival, and
public records programs, the department is uniquely positioned to meet these needs.

Our programs are structured to link the enduring resources of archival collections with the contemporary
information resources of government and libraries. From this comprehensive perspective, the department is
helping preserve the Commonwealth’s rich legacy as it contributes to building a stronger Kentucky future.

This position will be located in the State Records Center, State Records Branch, in Frankfort, KY. Please
note that this is not a librarian or archivist role. This role is not eligible for telecommuting. We are
seeking a professional and customer service-oriented individual to join our team as the Administrative
Supervisor. The successful candidate for this position will demonstrate the ability to handle multiple
projects simultaneously, analyze problems, communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing, and work
cooperatively with a team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide direct supervision over all employees within the State Records Center.
  • Recommend, interpret, and enforce policies and procedures regarding the State Records Center, and assist
    statewide agency staff regarding the policies and procedures.
  • Track storage space needs and coordinate records destruction.
  • Ensure proper and timely billing and credits for records storage fees and destruction.
  • Prepare quarterly
    invoices and coordinate billing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate for this position will have strong supervisory, communication, and organizational
skills. Knowledge in inventory management and basic knowledge of pallet jacks and heavy equipment operation is
preferred.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Four years of professional administrative experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
A master's degree in public or business administration or a related field will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Additional administrative, business or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
