Description

candidate for the Administrative Specialist Senior position open in the Louisville Trial Office of the Kentucky
Department of Public Advocacy.

In this important role in Kentucky’s largest criminal defense firm, you will be acting as both a liaison
between attorneys, clients, and other members of the community, as well as an administrative assistant to the
office’s supervisor. You will also be expected to draft and edit a variety of documents and reports so
excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are preferred. Time management skills are also
valued as the ideal candidate will be handling multiple time-sensitive tasks for various attorneys. The
ideal candidate would also be able to prioritize and complete requested duties independently.
Our clients are people who the government has charged with criminal offenses. Compassion for our clients and a commitment to our mission are critical characteristics for the successful
candidate. A pleasant, outgoing personality both in-person and on the phone are also highly desirable traits for this
position.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Drafting service contracts.
  • Preparing correspondence.
  • Data entry.
  • Answering phones.
  • Greeting clients as needed.
  • Preparing and distributing monthly reports.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
