The Administrative Specialist position will assist with administrative duties within the Plate Distribution section of NC DMV. The selected candidate will be responsible for monitoring of state-owned inventory of over 500 plate categories, as well as, for ordering, stocking, delivery and the mailing of license tags, validation stickers, and handicap placards. The Administrative Specialist must be able to independently research and resolve difficult situations and discrepancies.

The Plate Distribution section is responsible for providing inventory and general supplies to 130 license plate agencies and 123 driver license offices statewide. This section is also responsible for issuing dealer and IRP plates (which are special license plates issued to commercial vehicles registered under the International Registration Plan) to over 850 online dealers.

  • Follows all workplace safety procedures and properly uses required personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Demonstrated ability to lift boxes weighing up to 45-50 lbs.

The program area for this position includes the following: Experience in the State Title and Registration System (STARS), customer service experience dealing with License Plate Agencies (LPAs), On-line Dealers (OLDs) or Driver License Offices (DLOs), inventory/warehouse experience, maintaining records, planning delivery routes.

Management prefers applicants with the following:

  • Experience in maintaining records, reports, and data using Microsoft office products.
  • Experience working with inventory and warehouse controls.
  • Experience in researching and resolving problems to make independent decisions as needed.
  • Experience in customer service working with diverse clientele.

Minimum Education and Experience

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
