Description

The Kentucky Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction, Division of Electrical, Support Section is
seeking an Administrative Specialist. This position is responsible for providing administrative support for
the statewide Electrical program. Specifically, reviewing Electrical License and permit applications in
accordance with regulation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviews renewal applications for the Electrical licensing and certification program.
  • Processes permit applications.
  • Interprets laws, regulations, policies, and procedures to agency staff and public.
  • Answers calls to the Division of Electrical main phone line.
  • Monitors and responds to phone messages left in the Electrical Inbox.
  • Processes payment transactions to apply towards the appropriate fee.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience reviewing and processing applications.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Organizational Skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
One year of professional, administrative, or business experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):
NONE

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
