Description

The Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice is a multi-faceted agency that serves juveniles of the

This is a highly responsible position in the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet. The employee is expected to
perform all duties to the best of their ability, act in a responsible manner at all times, demonstrate
leadership qualities, and treat all staff, youth, and persons with respect. This is a demanding position that

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Provides professional administrative support to internal staff and leadership related to Juvenile
    Kentucky Offender Management System (JKOMS) operations. Performs duties involving general processes and
    procedures; and performs other duties as required.
  • Interprets and applies rules, regulations and policies applicable to JKOMS department wide. Drafts or
    prepares correspondences, detailed forms, reports and other materials for managers and executive staff.
  • Answers inquiries regarding the JKOMS system and provides detailed information on JKOMS to resolve
    inconsistencies or inaccuracies in records and reports by phone, in writing, or in person. Studies
    organizational unit's needs for additional equipment, supplies, and materials and makes recommendations for
    any JKOMS needs.
  • Checks, Maintains or Prepares Records Such as Financial Documents, Time/Attendance, Travel Vouchers or
    Related Documents.
  • Prepares daily, monthly and annual records/reports for JKOMS. Applies procedures, rules and regulations
    to accomplish the goal and objective of JKOMS.
  • Identifies opportunities for improved system efficiency and tests updates or enhancements prior to
    release. Attends meetings and completes trainings when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
One year of professional, administrative, or business experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
