The Oregon State Police in Salem, Oregon is hiring for one (1) Full-Time, Permanent Administrative Specialist 2 position. This position will be in-office without the option for a remote or hybrid work schedule.

of Job Duties:

In this position you will provide support to the Lottery Security Section by developing, implementing, performing analysis, improving processes, and giving consultative advice on various programs in accordance with state statutes, administrative rules, internal operating procedures, and industry best practices relating to the regulatory management of Lottery retailers and vendors as well as vendors contractual requirements.

You will provide administrative support to the Section Lieutenant, Sergeants, Detectives, and lottery staff in fulfilling the requirements and obligations for the operation and administration of the Oregon State Lottery.

In this position you will interpret and apply Lottery OAR’s (Chapter 177), state laws (ORS 461), and rules and policies as they relate to retail background investigations, vendor background investigations, shipment of sensitive items, and training of the section’s professional staff.

You will manage the administrative functions of the sections, including working in OSP and Lottery Report Management Systems, for the management of information in support of all the section’s programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Three years of secretarial or administrative support experience that includes coordinating office procedures, preparing narrative and statistical reports, and administrative data collection and analysis;

OR


An associate degree in general office occupations and two years of secretarial or administrative support experience that includes coordinating office procedures, preparing narrative and statistical reports, and administrative data collection and analysis;

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Skills:

  • Administrative experience to include proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products, and ability to learn Niche and lottery report management systems.

  • Ability to adapt, plan, organize, and multi-task to ensure completion of projects, tasks, and assignments with multiple competing priorities within a changing environment.

  • Skilled in performing technical and administrative support functions requiring independent judgment, decision making and problem resolution.

  • Demonstrated ability to interpret laws, rules, policies, and procedures and applying these interpretations to specific situations.

  • Basic understanding of research techniques, sufficient to collect, analyze, interpret, and report data in both a narrative and statistical format.
