Job Focus Area
The Louisiana Department of Education is seeking an Administrative Program Specialist A to join the Operational Support Services team. This role will serve as a primary support for administrative professionals across the agency by developing, streamlining, and maintaining agency wide administrative procedures, resources, and support. This role will also serve as a secondary reviewer for contracts across the agency as well as a backup administrative assistant for program offices with vacancies. We are looking for candidates who believe in teamwork, accountability, are self-motivating, and process improvement oriented.

Candidates with the following skills and competencies are encouraged to apply:

  • Experience building, documenting and implementing standard operating procedures

Examples of duties

Three years of experience in administrative services; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR

A bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties:

As an Administrative Program Specialist A you you will;

  • Second level contract reviewer
  • Backup time administrator for the agency
  • Backup LaGov admin for offices with admin vacancies
  • Admin onboarding and resource document creation and maintenance
  • New admin trainer



Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment, if selected.
Career Progression: This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule: Workdays are Monday - Friday; work hours will be determined.
Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
