The Administrative Judge is designated by the City Council to be the administrative head of the judiciary of the City of Dallas.

Essential Functions
1 Promulgates work rules regarding administration of court dockets, assignments, court locations, equalizing of case assignments, vacation schedules, and other administrative details concerning judicial performance of the municipal courts to be submitted to the City Manager and City Attorney for comment prior to adoption by the City Council.
2 Ensures that the rules adopted by the City Council are adhered to by all courts; interprets, explains, and applies City adopted rules to ensure their implementation and use.
3 Makes reports as required by the City Council; provides legal and professional guidance for reporting Council adoptions, rules, and information
4 Supervises, either directly or through subordinate supervisors, personnel of the municipal court to ensure that court proceedings and supporting administrative functions operate efficiently.
5 As part of the most recent budget cycle, the Community Court and its related functions were transitioned under the Judiciary. The Administrative Judge also has oversight responsibility for the Juvenile Diversion Program.
6 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
1 Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of municipal administration/management.
2 Thorough knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations governing the municipal courts.
3 Thorough knowledge of principles of management techniques, public administration, and budget planning.
4 Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
5 Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
6 Ability to implement and oversee rules and regulations relating to court systems and hearings.
7 Ability to manage and supervise subordinate staff.
Experience
Seven (7) or more years of experience as a practicing attorney in the State of Texas.
Licenses and Certifications
Attorney License in the State of Texas.
Education
Doctor of Jurisprudence
