This position functions as a Front Desk/Switchboard Operator within the District 04 Headquarters Building. The incumbent is responsible for telephone and radio communications, greeting visitors, mail processing, data entry, and various clerical duties. The incumbent must be self-motivated and able to perform duties independently with little to no supervision on a regular basis. The incumbent will participate in DOTD structured training programs as appropriate and attend all continuing education classes and conferences deemed necessary to facilitate the performance of required tasks.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience.

Supplemental information

Job Duties:

  • Operates the District 04 Headquarters switchboard and two-way radio system.
  • Greets and assists internal and external customers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Directs incoming calls to the appropriate person or department and receives and relays messages.
  • Receives, date-stamps, sorts, and distributes incoming mail and processes outgoing mail and packages.
  • Maintains petty cash, including processing payments, maintaining records, and ensuring proper documentation.
  • Enters customer calls and information into the Customer Service Database and maintains related records.
  • Communicates with management, employees, vendors, and the public while performing various clerical and administrative duties as assigned.
  • May be required to perform other duties as necessary, including but not limited to emergency/disaster support activities.


Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: Probational/Promotional
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday from 7:45AM to 4:15PM.
